St. Michaels, MD

Saint Michaels is a town in Talbot County, Maryland, United States. The population was 1,193 at the 2000 census. Saint Michaels derives its name from the Episcopal Parish established here in 1677. The church attracted settlers who engaged in tobacco growing and ship building. Created: July 2010

 


Chesapeake Bay

The Chesapeake Bay is approximately 200 miles long, from the Susquehanna River in the north to the Atlantic Ocean in the south. At its narrowest point between Kent County's Plum Point (near Newtown) and the Harford County shore near Romney Creek, the Bay is 2.8 miles  wide; at its widest point, just south of the mouth of the Potomac River, it is 30 miles wide. Average depth of the bay is 46 feet and the maximum depth is 208 feet. Created: July 2010


Battle of Gettysburg Reenactment

The Battle of Gettysburg was fought July 1–3, 1863, in and around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, was the battle with the largest number of casualties in the American Civil War and is often described as the war's turning point. Union Maj. Gen. George Gordon Meade's Army of the Potomac defeated attacks by Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia, ending Lee's invasion of the North. Created: July 2010


Gettysburg Battlefield

The Gettysburg Battlefield was the site of the Battle of Gettysburg, fought July 1 to July 3, 1863, in and around the borough of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, the county seat of Adams County, which had approximately 2,400 residents at the time. Historic Town of Oakland

Oakland is the county seat of the Garrett County, Maryland and the most populous city in Garrett County. It is a city with a population of 1,930 according to the 2000 census. The city is part of the Pittsburgh DMA, and is situated in the west middle of the county, only miles from the source of the Potomac River, which flows into the Chesapeake Bay. It is also near the Wisp Resort at Deep Creek Lake, a major ski resort for many Marylanders and other visitors. Oakland was incorporated in 1862. The Autumn Glory Festival, a fall festival that attracts a great amount of tourists, takes place here every October.
